Services - Panelled Modular Operating

The MIG wall panel system is a unique panelling system, developed by the designers of the jointless modular operating theatre.

The panels are rigid and durable and are resistant to damage by cleaning agents or disinfectants.

The sub structure is based on a rigid, heavy duty, galvanised steel frame. The members are pre-formed off site complete with fixing holes and cut-outs to suit service locations. The framework utilise a simple snap and screw fixing, which enables each wall to be quickly assembled on site to a precise tolerance. This reduces the reliance on skilled labour by eliminating site inaccuracies, site cutting and waste.

The steel frame is self supporting and can also be used to support horizontal members for carrying ceiling mounted equipment.

The support members are available in a variety of widths, to enable increased wall thicknesses to be provided to suit wall mounted equipment.

wefThe combination of the strength of the frame and the rigidity of the panels enables wall mounted equipment to be fixed to the walls without additional internal supports.

The steel frame is clad with compact grade High Pressure Laminate (HPL) panels, which provide unsurpassed impact and abrasion resistance, an excellent noise barrier and are completely maintenance free. The laminate is also resistant to all cleaning agents currently used in a hospital environment.

The panels are mounted with a concealed rail and clip clamping arrangement which is fast to assemble and allows easy removal of the panels if required.

The joints between the panels are sealed with a heat applied compound providing a completely flat sealed surface.

wefThe MIG panel system has been independently tested for noise reduction at the Sound Research Laboratory in Sudbury, achieving a noise reduction index of 54 dB and Fire tested at the Warrington Fire Research Centre, achieving F60.

All wall-mounted equipment is flush mounted and sealed into the walls.

Completely de-mountable the system allows easy modification to accommodate new equipment and services, to suit future changes in medical technology and equipment.

The MIG panel system has considerable benefits in other areas in the hospital, particularly in heavily serviced areas such as ward bed walls, where the need for bed head trunking is eliminated, or specialist areas such as ICU’s, diagnostics, pharmacies or laboratories.

Key Benefits

  • Environmentally friendly
HPL is produced from fast renewable raw materials. The energy to produce it is a fraction of the energy required to produce alternative products i.e. steel or aluminium. Off site production ensures no site waste. Factory waste is re-cycled, as is production waste. Disposal of the product at the end of its life cycle by industrial incineration produces recoverable energy and does not emit any harmful components.
  • Fast Assembly Time
Typically a modular room can be erected in less than half the time taken by conventional building.
  • No Wet Trades
The panels are pre-finished which not only reduces assembly time, but also minimises the interference with other trades normally associated with the dust and dirt of traditional construction.
  • Minimal Maintenance Costs
The panel system does not require any maintenance or re-decoration.
  • Good Impact Resistance
The panel system will not be damaged by the normal type of wear and tear associated with an operating department.
  • Easily Cleaned And Sterilised
The panels are resistant to most chemical cleaning and sterilising agents currently in use in a hospital environment.
  • Future Proof
The wall panels can be easily removed, modified, replaced, or re-assembled in a new configuration, to suit change of use, to make the operating room “future proof”
  • Low Overall Cost of Ownership
Construction costs are comparable with traditional construction, however closing a department for maintenance is expensive in terms of maintenance costs and lost revenue. The cost of the panel system over the life of the department results in substantial savings to the client.
  • Reduced Risk
Pre-fabrication reduces the risk of delays on site associated with conventional building.
  • Factory Quality Products
The use of components manufactured under strict quality controlled conditions, in an ISO certified environment, ensure an exceptional quality product and removes the reliance on local skilled labour.
